Brand and Website Design for Fine Finish Decor
Written by Peter Skitt, Creative Director of Buzz Design
Fine Finish Decor is a commercial painting and decorating company serving clients across Sheffield and the wider region. Buzz Design was engaged from the very beginning of the business’s journey, before the company had any public-facing presence, to create a complete brand identity and website that would launch the business professionally and generate enquiries from day one.
The scope covered logo design, brand identity, website design and build, and the relationship has since extended to ongoing social media management, making Buzz Design a continuous part of the business’s growth.
Challenges
Starting from nothing is both a creative opportunity and a commercial pressure. With no existing brand equity to build on, the design had to create immediate credibility in a competitive sector where trust is built slowly and lost quickly.
Commercial decorating clients are assessing professionalism, reliability and quality before they even make contact. The website had to project all three convincingly, without overpromising or resorting to the generic claims that populate most trade websites.
Service descriptions needed to be clear and specific for business clients who may have varying levels of familiarity with commercial decorating trades.
Design Process
The brand was developed first including logo, colour palette and typography before a single page of the website was designed. This sequencing matters: designing a website without an established brand identity creates visual inconsistency that is difficult and expensive to resolve later.
A custom icon set was created to represent each service area. The layout was built for mobile use from the outset, recognising that commercial referrals often arrive via smartphone. Local SEO was integrated into the page structure from the start.
Solutions
A strong, distinctive brand identity logo, colour scheme, and custom iconography was created and carried consistently across the website and all brand materials.
The website features a clean, professional design with clear service descriptions, an intuitive layout, and a mobile-responsive build. The quote request form replaced the generic contact page, helping Fine Finish Decor qualify leads from the outset.
Ongoing social media management has kept the brand visible and active as the business has grown, extending the impact of the initial launch investment.
Results
Fine Finish Decor launched with a complete, professional brand identity and web presence that matched the quality of their commercial work. The site generated enquiries from launch, giving the business a credible platform to win contracts in a competitive sector.
The social media activity has continued to build brand recognition as the company grows, creating a compound effect from the initial design investment.
Lessons Learned
For trade businesses, the quality of the website directly signals the quality of the work. A poorly designed site tells potential clients something specific about standards. In a sector where quality is the product, that is a commercial problem.
Building local SEO into the structure from launch is far more efficient than optimising after the fact. A site that is correctly structured from day one earns its rankings gradually; one that is not needs costly rework to catch up.
